A printable companion activity is being developed to help students record work, organize answers, and reflect on the mathematical strategies used throughout the five-planet mission.
🛠️ How to Play
Select Start Mission to launch from Earth. Students travel through five hostile planets and must solve three mathematics problems on each planet before escaping to the next destination.
Enter an answer and select Check Answer. A correct response advances the mission. An incorrect response provides feedback and allows another attempt without ending the game.
Use the built-in Sound control when working in a quiet classroom. Select Full Screen for the most immersive 16:9 experience. On phones or small tablets, rotate the device to landscape orientation.
🚀 Mission Structure
The escape room contains 15 total review problems: three questions on each of five planets. Planet progress indicators show how many problems have been completed before the next launch sequence begins.
Launch, travel, landing, and return-to-Earth videos connect the problem sets into one continuous mission. Students must complete every planet to reach the final Mission Complete screen.
The activity is not timed. Students can focus on mathematical reasoning, retry incorrect answers, and complete the mission at an appropriate pace.
📐 7th Grade EOG Skills Reviewed
The mission combines number-system, proportional-reasoning, expressions-and-equations, geometry, and probability concepts in a mixed review format.
Area of circles: Apply the circle-area formula using a given radius and an approximation for pi.
Constant of proportionality: Determine the constant from a proportional graph.
Percent decrease: Compare an original price with a reduced price.
Proportional relationships: Use a graph and unit-rate reasoning to find an unknown cost.
Equivalent expressions: Apply the distributive property and combine like terms.
Supplementary angles: Write and solve an equation for adjacent angles forming a straight line.
Equations with rational coefficients: Solve a multi-step equation involving fractions and distribution.
Compound probability: Find the probability of two dependent events without replacement.
Rational-number operations: Evaluate an expression containing integers, fractions, multiplication, and division.
Scale factor and area: Determine how a scale factor changes the area of a square.
Vertical angles: Use congruent angle measures to solve for a variable.
Percent discount: Calculate a sale price and round to the nearest cent.
Triangle inequality: Identify side lengths that cannot form a triangle.
Volume of a triangular prism: Find the area of the triangular base and multiply by prism length.
Perimeter equations: Use algebraic side-length expressions and a known perimeter to solve for a variable.
⌨️ Answer-Entry Tips
Type numerical answers directly into the mission terminal. Common symbols and units such as %, $, degree symbols, square units, and cubic units are accepted for appropriate questions.
Enter fractions with a slash, such as 8/5 or 1/9. For the expression problem, equivalent term order is accepted. For the triangle-inequality multiple-choice problem, enter the answer choice letter.
Students may enlarge a problem image when they need a closer view. Select the enlarged image or close control to return to the mission.
🧑🏫 Classroom Use
Use Planet Escape as an end-of-year review, test-preparation station, partner activity, enrichment challenge, or whole-class projected mission. Students can record calculations on paper while entering final answers into the game.
Headphones are recommended for independent use. The sound control can mute all game audio, and the credits screen identifies the third-party audio used in the mission.
For the best display, use a modern browser and select Full Screen. The escape room maintains a 16:9 presentation and uses letterboxing rather than stretching the mission graphics.
